Amethyst!

Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz often used in jewelry. The name comes from the Ancient Greek word that means "intoxicated." It is in reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness; the ancient Greeks and Romans wore amethyst and made drinking vessels of it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication.

Amethyst has been in use for thousands of years in magic, healing and psychic empowerment. Its violet color makes this one of the most sought after variety of quartz. It has a large number of qualities and uses that have been given it over the years and it is said to be a stone that radiates energy which has often been referred to as the purple ray.

It is referred to as a Spiritual Stone because its color violet is same as that of the crown chakra. Meditation with it helps one in reaching the spiritual aspect of the universe.

Calms emotions and reduces stress.
Helps the holder of the stone to have a more optimistic and uplifting perspective.

Jade Buddha!

This is another way to wear your carved jade Buddha. We come across a lot of these jade pieces and although it may seem hard to imagine how one should wear this, we have tried to design in such a way that it is great with a plain t-shirt and jeans. We also added a few colored stones to make it fun and hip. This was set in silver and plated in yellow gold so that it doesn't hurt your pocket at all.

US GIRLS!

What Angel Aquino wore.

Airing on April 15, 2010, Thursday, Channel 23, 9 pm.

Golden Summer!

Love this pair of earrings. It's made out of drussy agate that was metallized with 24 karat gold. Seahorse and starfish, shells and seaweed were added to complete the summer look.

Sorry folks, this pair already belongs to someone but you too, can make your own summer pair and add on whatever it is that catches your fancy.

Opalicious!

This is my ultimate favorite pieces. When I was younger, I never really liked opal. I thought it was only for the Lola's but now, I see the beauty of the stone. Not because I am nearing that stage in life but because now, I understand how nature has made opal into something unique and almost alien-like stone. It reminds me of a galaxy that emits millions of colors.

Here's a little information about the stone.

Precious opal shows a variable interplay of internal colors and even though it is a mineraloid, it does have an internal structure. At micro scales precious opal is composed of silica spheres some 150 to 300 nm in diameter in a hexagonal or cubic close-packed lattice. These ordered silica spheres produce the internal colors by causing the interference and diffraction of light passing through the microstructure of the opal.[4] It is the regularity of the sizes and the packing of these spheres that determines the quality of precious opal. Where the distance between the regularly packed planes of spheres is approximately half the wavelength of a component of visible light, the light of that wavelength may be subject to diffraction from the grating created by the stacked planes. The spacing between the planes and the orientation of planes with respect to the incident light determines the colors observed. The process can be described by Bragg's Law of diffraction.
